3 Ways to Celebrate #WorldKindnessDay

In true celebratory fashion - I have loved partaking in all the seemingly made up holidays that celebrities and pop culture promote like gangbusters. I drank a margarita on 'National Margarita Day'. I ate cookie dough on 'Raw Cookie Dough Day'. I did yoga on 'World Yoga Day'. I'm all about the made-up holidays. So when I found out today was World Kindness Day, I felt inspired to post. 


This holiday hits a bit more close to home than anything else as this past weekend as I had attended a memorial service for a woman who took her own life. She was a beautiful woman, a mother and a friend to many people. Her brother, a close friend, spoke about one thing we should take away from this tragic event - which is that we all could be a little kinder to each other. We never know the struggles of those around us and what people are internalizing. 


Life can be so hard and at times, it's easy to feel hopeless about things out of our control. I really believe if the world were less judgmental that we'd all see more of ourselves in others and we'd treat each other better. So today I've listed 3 ways you can celebrate World Kindness Day and honor the good thats still very much present in our world today. 



1.) Let That Sh*T GO!

Choose today to let go of those things that don't serve you. Pick one thing or maybe there are multiple things that need to find their way to the 'Exit' sign. It could be a self-limiting thought like "I can't" or "I'm not good enough"that needs to leave your inner monologue. There might be someone in your life that doesn't encourage you or help you cheers to the good times. Whatever it is, find out what's blocking you from tossing up a fistful of confetti and let that sh*t go.


2.) Do Good

There is nothing that makes people feel better than we're making others feed g


ood. I think sometimes people think that acts of kindness have to be a big display but it can be something as small as a smile, a compliment or a cup of coffee. So don't worry about the details - just get out there and do good! 


3.) Treat Yo Self

In the process of making others feel good - we start to feel pretty darn good ourselves. Sometimes, in our pursuits of making others happy we forget to be extra nice to ourselves. I encourage anyone reading to find something that makes you feel happy (warm and fuzzies and all) and buy it or own it or try it. It doesn't have to be a material item - although a handbag never hurt! But think about spending time doing something you love like reading or writing or dancing. Just make time for YOU and celebrate the PYT that you are!
